More about an office without walls:

When you hear the words “office without walls,” you might picture a big open building with many desks and no walls. This is incorrect, because of course you will physically have walls surrounding you but taking advantage of the internet and collaboration software will allow you to exchange information between employees effortlessly so that you can be as effective as possible.

What is collaboration software?

A software used to collect information and documents from many people all in one document without having to physically have your employees gather for a meeting is called collaboration software. Collaboration software allows you to do this without having each person leave their office. You can use the collaboration software and the internet to exchange presentations, spreadsheets, calendars, and any other information you have on your computer with everyone you wish to collaborate with.

Different types of collaboration software:

The first type of collaboration software requires an IT infrastructure already in place or you must set one up in order to use it, normally at a high price. This is a centralized version of the software and all users who wish to share information with each other must be using the same type of software.

Examples of collaboration software who require an IT infrastructure are Groove Network, Microsoft Sharepoint, Documentum, and Filenet.

The next kind of collaboration software does not require the use of an IT infrastructure and it is very easy to get set up and running. A good example of this type of collaboration software is NextPage. It doesn’t require an IT infrastructure and you can share information with anyone, they don’t even have to have the NextPage software installed to view the documents you send to them. This comes in handy for preparing documents and having your co-workers add their information before sending to the client who doesn’t have the NextPage software. Your client will be able to easily open and read the finished document that was prepared using your NextPage collaboration software. It’s also easy to track what editions have been made to the document with the NextPage software.

Collaboration software can be the most important addition to the productivity tools currently in your office. It’s the easiest way of sharing documents and keeping them organized and with current information from various people in your office. Having an office without walls with the use of collaboration software will allow your company to be the most productive they can be . All you have to do is get the software and start using it to see the benefits it has to offer.
